This study aims to analyze the use of TikTok as a means of generating additional income and to examine the implementation of Islamic communication ethics among content creators in Banda Aceh. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design. Informants were selected using purposive sampling and consisted of five TikTok content creators who had generated income through the platform. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations of TikTok content, and documentation, and were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. The findings show that TikTok is utilized as a digital economic medium through three main activities: TikTok Affiliate, promotion of MSME products, and endorsements. In practice, the creators attempted to apply Islamic communication ethics by emphasizing honesty, trustworthiness, and politeness in delivering information. However, the implementation of these values faces challenges, including competition involving sensational content, pressure from the TikTok algorithm, and dilemmas in following viral trends. This study concludes that the use of TikTok as a digital economic medium can be aligned with Islamic communication ethics when content creators maintain integrity, honesty, and responsibility in their digital communication activities.
2026-10-01T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Azis Septian Rizki, Ade Irma, Azman Sulaiman
